Miriam has extensive experience within the fitness industry and has harnessed her early natural talents for sport to develop unique fitness classes in a league of their own.

Background

At an early age Miriam took part in a variety of sports and competitions finding her flare for leading and coaching groups of people. She has won numerous competitions throughout her early years of high school and even took second place at the Stirling army base for the fastest time around the assault course, topping large numbers of male and female participants from local schools.

Miriam’s interest in sports and science saw her progress onto an Honors of Biological Science where she undertook tutoring roles and was voted student representative for the biological faculty department for two consecutive years. During her years at university Miriam worked part time as a pharmaceutical assistant gaining and learning further knowledge on health and wellbeing. During this time Miriam attended a pole dance class and quickly identified how sessions could be modified to suit everyone and how techniques could be applied from a variety of fitness genres to create a fun but very effective workout. In 2011 Miriam was invited to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to attend the first ever world pole cup and competed as an International professional finalist. Her skill set expanded and she now tutors and performs in a variety of different aerial disciplines; teaching and performing around the globe.Miriam has featured in several media articles including The Falkirk Herald, The Daily Mail, The Stirling Observer, the International Pole to Pole Magazine and many more. Blazing a trail at a number of venues Miriam has performed more than 200 times to the public! These events have included; International Festivals; Stage Theatre; Business and Corporate Conventions; Night Clubs; Birthday parties; Weddings and Charity Events.

What you can learn from Miriam

Having only attended a few classes many years ago and ‘pole-jamming’ with other aerial addicts Miriam is a self-taught pole professional. Having begun from scratch Miriam can relate to all those embarking on new moves no matter what level as she can identify where people will characteristically make mistakes. Miriam says “Despite people being all different shapes and sizes; there are some pit-falls which are classic of the moves they are learning. I have designed and created many new moves and combinations and having wrestled with them myself I can help people achieve their goals much faster – determination is definitely required but equally so is being able to laugh at yourself when you do make mistakes; you just get back up and try again.”

No matter what level you are training at Miriam is well versed with over 10 years teaching experience. She can tailor the session to suit whatever you would like to learn, and on your chosen piece of equipment. If you have a particular fitness goal in mind she can hone in on the moves you should be focusing on to help achieve your target. Miriam can tutor you on; Climbs; Inverts; Lifts; Static Poses and Spins, along with Conditioning and Transitional moves. Many of her workshops include flexibility and strength training. She is renowned for her deadlifts and has the ability to rep her own body weight in the air. She racks up an average of 15hrs training time per week - excluding performance and private tutorial time! They don’t call her a Machine for no reason…
